Shirley Brown Obituary

Shirley Brown was born October 28, 1954, in Candler County, GA. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Lester Williams and Janie Clark Williams. Shirley Brown passed away peacefully on Monday January 27, 2025, at her home in Twin City, Ga with her devoted husband by her side leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Shirley graduated from Emanuel County Institute in 1973 and later pursued early childhood education at Swainsboro Technical College. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to a career working in childcare for over 15 years before retiring in 2013. She joined Rountree Chapel church as young girl and since then she’s served in various roles and duties like the choir and was also recently designated as the church’s Assistant Mother of the Church.

Shirley was the heart of her family—a caring and compassionate matriarch with a warm spirit, an infectious sense of humor, and a deep love for those around her. She touched countless lives with her kindness and wisdom. In her spare time, she had an affinity for fishing, she found it be serene and peaceful.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and siblings Geraldine Williams and Gloria Harper, and one grandchild Tyrell Brown.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Mr. George Earl Brown. Four sons, Tyrone Brown (Nosha) of Millen, GA; Frisco Brown (Kenetra) of Atlanta, GA; Jamar Brown of Statesboro, GA; and Dominic Brown of Twin City, GA; eight grandchildren, Jarmecia Williams, JaMyra Brown, Janelle Brown, JaCameron Brown, Tyesha Brown, Aniya Brown-Parrish, KaNara Brown, and Chaston Brown.

Mitchell of Swainsboro, GA; Larry Williams of Swainsboro, GA; and Martha A. Williams of Swainsboro, GA and  a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
