Shari Bond Obituary

Shari Buford Bond, was born November 26, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York, to the parentage of Rufus Jackson, Jr. and Rose Camille.

Shari married Dennis Bond while attending Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, New York. She dropped out shortly after his death to move to Augusta, GA to do what she did best, take care of her loved ones. Shari lived with and cared for her ailing Grandmother, Nita Bell Rountree and Aunt, Sallie Maude, in Augusta until they passed away. She then moved to Swainsboro in the early 80’s and continued her education in Emanuel County where she obtained her GED.

Shari was baptized at Rountree Chapel in Twin City, GA as a young child. She has always displayed the love of Christ by taking on the role of a caretaker. She stayed ready with words of advice to anyone who would listen and would give the clothes off her back and shoes off her feet to help someone in need. If there was ever a need for anyone to step up to the plate to care for a sick loved one or to help take care of her brothers and sisters; she was the first one to step in to make the sacrifice, putting aside her own hopes and dreams, to help with theirs.  Shari’s Mother, Rose, and most of her younger brothers and sisters soon followed her to Swainsboro and she practically raised them all while working full time at Roper, as an Assembly Line Operator. She loved working there alongside friends and extended family! She was employed there for more than a decade before suffering a near fatal stroke in 2003.

Shari fought hard to regain her strength and control of her life for years after the stroke. She taught herself how to walk and write again and she remained caretaker to all of her children throughout the process. She even took care of her children’s children!

On Friday, November 12, 2021, after battling heart failure and several strokes, Shari transitioned from Earth to eternal glory while surrounded by loved ones at home in Swainsboro, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Bond, her Mother Rose Camille, her Father Rufus Jackson, Sr. and her brothers Cleveland Buford and Buddy Turner.

Left to cherish her loving memories are her three sons: Cleveland Laron Buford, Antwaun Bernard Bond, Quintus (Kent) Rashawn Bond; two daughters Tamika (Armand) Lashawn Bond-Burnett and Dashawn Gerris Bond. Two maternal brothers, Bernard and Anthony (Tony) Turner; two maternal sisters, Geraldine (Gerry) Rountree and Valerie Turner. Two paternal brothers: Jerry and Jeffrey Jackson. Two paternal sisters: Gwendolyn (Harvey) Brown and Shirley (Leon) Ricks. Shari had several Grand and Great-Grandchildren; a special niece that was more like her own daughter, Chanice Rountree, as well as a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
