SP4 James Marion, Sr.

With profound love and heartfelt remembrance, we celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. James Marion, Sr., who entered eternal rest on June 22, 2026, at the age of 82.

Life and Early Years

James Marion was born on January 20, 1944, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to the late Mr. Benjamin Pete Young and Mrs. Mary-Rose Marion Young. From humble beginnings, he grew into a man defined by integrity, quiet strength, and deep devotion to family, faith, and country.

Military Service

A proud patriot, James honorably served his country in the United States Army and courageously served during the Vietnam War. His service reflected his bravery, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty and sacrifice. He carried the honor of a veteran throughout his life with dignity and pride.

Faith and Church Life

James was a faithful member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, where he worshiped, served, and remained steadfast in his Christian faith. His life reflected humility, kindness, and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew him.

Family and Legacy

Above all, James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great family patriarch. He cherished his family deeply and took great pride in the generations that followed him.

James leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife, Ruby Marion; children, James Marion, Jr., Latarsha Marion, Elizabeth, David (Josephine) Coleman, and Frank (Kathleen) Coleman, Jr.; loving siblings, Eddie Blake, Aldrich (Roma) Marion, and Joanne Foots; and sisters-in-law, Essie Hodges of New York, Bobbie Mack and Thelma Mack of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Grandchildren and Generations

His legacy continues through his large and loving family, including his grandchildren: Tawanaca Williams, Uyunta (Jakota) Turner, Rodney Coleman, Antoinette Coleman, Maurice Williams, Cimere (Contavious) Williams, Shanice Coleman, Erica McGruder, Kanneshia Coleman, Frank Coleman, III, Kawame (Shayla) Coleman, Tiffany Coleman, Shimakia Coleman, Kawaskie (Yveka) Coleman, Deandra Coleman, and Deaven Coleman, along with many other cherished grandchildren. James was blessed with 40 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren, each a living reminder of his enduring legacy of love.

Siblings Preceded in Death

He was preceded in death by his siblings: Gloria Smith, Annie Joyce Young Lee, Lucille Hudson, Betty Marion, Joe Marion, John Ellis Marion, and Katherine Doyle.
