Paul Turner Obituary

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we celebrate the memory of Paul Edward Turner, who was born on February 10, 1953, in Emanuel County, Georgia, to the late
Georgia Mae Smith Turner and George Turner Sr. On May 11, 2026, Paul peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest.

Paul was educated in the Emanuel County School System and proudly graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1971. A bright and dedicated student, he excelled academically and was also a talented athlete who especially loved playing basketball. In his early years, he worked faithfully alongside his father on the family farm before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, to continue pursuing
greater opportunities and further his education.

At an early age, Paul joined Ohoopee Grove Baptist Church, the church his family lovingly called home. No matter where life carried him, he always found joy in returning home to worship
whenever he visited. His faith and connection to family remained deeply rooted throughout his life.

Paul was a hardworking and determined man whose career journey reflected both ambition and perseverance. He had several positions over the years, including serving as manager of the
Sheraton Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Eventually, with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire for independence, he purchased a tow truck, and established his own towing business, which he
successfully operated for many years before retiring. Even in retirement, Paul continued serving others with kindness and dedication as a rideshare driver.

Paul was first united in marriage to Geraldine Turner, and from this union they were blessed with a wonderful son, Teko Turner, whom Paul loved dearly. After he and Geraldine later
separated, Paul eventually found love again and married Carolyn Pollard Turner. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love, companionship, and cherished memories.
Carolyn and Paul shared 31 beautiful years, including 27 cherished years of marriage. Their journey together began in Atlanta, Georgia, and later led them to Sumter, South Carolina, where
they built a home overflowing with love, laughter, and treasured memories. Whether traveling together, enjoying family gatherings, or spending quiet days fishing, there was a bond filled with warmth and companionship.

Paul found true happiness in the simple joys of life. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. Fishing was not merely a pastime for him—it was his sanctuary. Along the water’s
edge, he found peace, comfort, and reflection. Though Paul carried a quiet spirit, his presence spoke volumes. He was deeply loved by his sisters, always offering support, laughter, and unwavering care. The memories they created together—from childhood adventures to adult conversations—will forever remain precious treasures held close to their hearts.

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his four brothers: Willie Turner, George Turner Jr., Lamar Turner, and Ronnie Turner.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted wife, Carolyn Turner of Sumter, South Carolina; his son, Teko Turner of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter, Christina Pollard; his granddaughter, China Anderson; two great-grandchildren; and his nine loving sisters: Mae Fannie Phillips, Vonnie Phillips of Soperton, Georgia, Joyce Woods, Brenda Odom (Terry) of Swainsboro, Georgia, Martha Gillis (Vernon), Linda Williams (James), Donna Turner, Ginger Smalls (Kenny) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Dorothy Boykins (James) of West Palm Beach, Florida. He also leaves one beloved sister-in-law, Margaret Turner of West Palm Beach, Florida, along with a host of devoted nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will continue to honor his life and legacy with love.
