On June 8, 2024, Orther (Bell) Rountree departed this life at home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 26, 1943, in Barnwell, South Carolina.
She moved to Garfield, Georgia, at a young age. She was an employee of Emanuel County Institute for 40 years. She was a member of Rountree Chapel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rountree was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Susie Bell Pryor, husband, Mr. Elton Rountree, Sr., daughter, Sarah Nell Pierce, sister, Ackinese Steele, brother, John Gaines, and stepdaughters, Rose Fann and Carrie Mae Williams.
She leaves her cherished memories with: her son, Richard Rountree of Twin City, Georgia; daughter, Mildred Rountree of Twin City, Georgia; stepchildren, Randy Mae Mosley and Elton Rountree, Jr., both of Twin City, Georgia; Beverly Newton and Shirley Newton, both of Millen, Georgia; grandchildren, Miranda (Joe) Smith, Brittany Sherrod, Dominique Rountree, ShaQuanda Rountree, Danielle Sherrod, Jamia Daughtry, Malayshia Daughtry, and Makaila Daughtry; seven great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Richard Daughtry and Larry Pierce; and a host of other relatives and friends.
