Marie Lynette (Sheffield) Chaffee

Marie Lynette Chaffee (Sheffield) passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Marie was born in Brockport, New York, on June 11, 1942.

She is survived by her children Theresa Walker-Keegan (Jason); Jessie Thompson (Roy); Cindy Leach (Lenny); Marie Rehm (Eugene); and Patty Chaplin; her brothers Richard Sheffield and Jerry Sheffield; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Marie was predeceased by her parents, George and Marie Sheffield; her son, Dennis Amato; her grandson, Sergeant Peter Joshua Jernigan; and fourteen of her sixteen siblings.

Marie loved her family and friends, pets and animals, hummingbirds, cardinals, music, the beach, dancing, Yahtzee, and bingo.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the American Legion Post 54, located at 626 South 3rd Street, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034. Friends and the public are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post 54 or the Humane Society of Nassau County, 639 Airport Road, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034.
