Margaret (Ward) Brinson

  Margaret, affectionately known as “Mother Pig,” was born to the late Joe Ward and Julia Mitchell Ward on April 23, 1935; she was the last or “baby” of the 9 Ward children. She attended the Rosenwald school in Twin City where she was one of the select group known as the “Ward sisters because of their basketball skills. She also attended Swainsboro Industrial High school.  At an early age she joined St. James A.M.E. of Twin City, Ga.  and later joined First Baptist Church, Bunch Park of Miami Fla. where she remained a member until death.

At an early age she met and married Frank Harley Brinson. They left Twin city and moved to Miami, Florida and remained there for over 60 years. Together they have three children, Diana B. Fields, Donnie Brinson, and Tracy Brinson.  Margaret attended the cosmetology school of Hialeah, Florida where she received a trade in shampoo, pedicure, and manicure specialist. She worked for various salons throughout Dade County for many years until she retired.  

She leaves to cherish her memory:  two daughters, Diana (Artie) Fields  of Twin City, Ga; Tracy Brinson of McDonough , Ga; Donnie Brinson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a devoted sister-in-law, Louise Young of Twin City, Ga;  a special friend, Lillie Johnson of Miami, Florida; five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one grandson who preceded her in death, Jelani Brinson and husband, Frank Harley Brinson. And a host of nieces and nephews and cousins
