It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Levi Cesar Hughes who departed us
on August 04, 2025, a devoted family man and faithful servant of God. He was a steady presence, and a source of strength to all who knew him.
A graduate of Swainsboro High School, he dedicated many years of his life to his career, at George Myers Corporation, and after a long career, he retired.
For over 40 years, he was a committed member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and Usher of the church. His spiritual leadership, compassion, and
quiet strength left a lasting impact on the congregation and community.
He was a father to many, not just to his own children, but to all who looked to him for wisdom,love, and support. A devoted companion to his beloved Betty Smith, who preceded him in death.
He was also a loving grandfather and a caring brother, always putting family first and offering unwavering support.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; Cora C.H. Green and Cicero Hughes; his sibling Rose Lee Hughes and his children Levi Legrant Hughes and Bobby Gene Mincey.
He is survived by his brothers Ulysses Grant Hughes, Cicero Alvin Hughes and Lawson (Janet) Hughes; his children Betty Jean Hughes, Constance Denise Hughes and Phillip Irvin Levi
Hughes. His bonus children: Bennett Sutton Jr., Victor Sutton, Jermaine Smith (Angel Miles), Eva Collins, Franchester Turner (Garner Turner), Allison Phillips (Leonardo Oglesby), Ruby
Sutton and Janice Sutton. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren who will continue to cherish his memory.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and the legacy of faith and love he leaves behind.
