Celebrating & Honoring His Life

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, Lester Corley Jr. peacefully departed this life at the age of 71, entering into eternal rest. He was a caring father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

In the spring of 1952 on April 13th, Lester was born to the late Lester, Sr. and Catherine Corley. He was the youngest among his siblings. Mr. Corley was born in Emanuel County and attended Emanuel County Schools, and graduated in 1971.

He dedicated over 30 years of his professional career to service Thompson Gas Companies before retiring. In his younger days, Lester enjoyed riding his motorcycles, racing hotrods, target shooting, and driving that gas truck “if you knew, you knew lol.” Known for his culinary skills, he derived immense joy from hosting fish fries and cookouts, cherishing these gatherings with his family and friends. He took most pleasure in talking to and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Sr. and Catherine Corley. His brothers- Fred Corley, Sr., Henry Corley and Curtis Corley. His sisters -Mary Scott, Mary Tillman and his nephew Willie C. Scott. He is survived by and leaves his memories to six children: Lester Leshon Corley III of Swainsboro, GA., Asha Stanford of Newport News, VA.,Christopher Stanford of Twin City, GA.,  Arsheka Corley of Swainsboro, GA., Dexter Parrish, Sr. of Swainsboro, GA., and Justin Corley of Hampton, GA. Thirteen grandchildren – JaQuinton Lloyd, Jamilia Carlyle, Jaylah Corley, Jasmine Bady, Nevaeh “Jala” Campbell, Tony Hackett Jr., Dexter Parrish Jr., Taylor Pinkston, Cameron Corley, Taraji Armstrong, Nia David, J’Lei Corley and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Louise Corley. Additionally, special nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly– Linda Shumake, Larry Corley, Mike Scott, Kim Scott, Fred Corley Jr., Tony Corley, Lawanda Corley, Tracey Corley, Rodney Corley, LaShonda Corley, Carolyn Habersham, Ricky Tillman, Randy Tillman, Helen Monroe and a multitude of other family members and friends.
