Lee Jones, Jr. “MAN” as he was called, was born on April 8, 1948 to the late Bishop Lee and Annel Jones in Swainsboro, Georgia. He departed this life on Monday, June 12, 2023.
Lee, Jr. graduated from Emanuel County High School in 1965, after graduation he began work at Liberty Bell in Swainsboro. He journeyed to Brooklyn, New York where he began a job at Manufacture Hanover Trust Bank, in New York, NY as an Assistant Manager.
He was drafted in the United States Army in 1967 where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC, he also served as a Drill Sergeant during the Viet Nam Conflict. He was a member of the Labor Union in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
In 1973, he attended City College of San Francisco Skills Center and graduated as a Psychiatric Technician. Afterwards he was employed with Golden Gate Regional Center, as a Psychiatric Aide prior to returning to New Jersey.
Lee returned home to his roots and became a Manager at Esquire Fashions in Swainsboro, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina.
He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia; Elim Praise Tabernacle, Waynesboro, Georgia, and later joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and worked faithfully until death.
Lee Jr. was a General Contractor and Entrepreneur in New Jersey and other eastern cities.
He recently joined the “Veterans at the Library” and participated in the Wreaths across America.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Annel Jones; Siblings Henry, Julia Mae, Joe Louis, Alma, Archibald and Solomon.
He leaves to mourn his passing; one son; Kelvin Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, one daughter; Lesheia Anderson of Newark, NewJersey, 2 grand-daughters; Riquel and Kinley. Six sisters; Mattie Crosby (Nathaniel) of Portland, Oregon, Maudine Williams and Carolyn Nash of San Francisco, California, Dolly Jones of Augusta, Georgia, Amelia Boyd, and Bertha Jones-McSween of Swainsboro, Georgia, One brother; Benjamin Jones (Mildred) of Orange, NewJersey. Two sisters- in- laws; Bernice Jones of Swainsboro, Georgia,and Betty Jones of Suisun City, California. A Spiritual Sister Antionette Pate (Raymond) of Lynchburg, Virginia, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
