On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Mr. Lawrence Wadley Sr. departed this life in the care of the Wellstar MCG Health Medical team in Augusta, Georgia following an extended illness.
He was born December 21, 1942, to the late Mr. Claude Wadley, and Mrs. Jessie Mae Wadley in Baxley Georgia, He was a native of Emanuel County and attended the Emanuel County School System. He joined St. Galilee Baptist Church at an early age. He worked for many years at Handi- House Manufacturing in Swainsboro Georgia, but being a carpenter was who he was at heart. He loved building things, working with his hands, and seeing the results of a job well done. Whether it was a project for work, a home repair, or something for family, he took pride in doing it right. He also enjoyed planting gardens and was always proud of what he grew and built. He loved to make people laugh at jokes. He enjoyed playing his harmonica, singing, and sharing joy with others. More than anything he loved God, his wife, his children, and his grandchildren who brought him his greatest happiness. He was preceded in death by: His loving wife of 57 years Mary Greene Wadley, his oldest son Lawrence Wadley Jr., his daughter-in-law Sheila Benjamin Wadley, his parents Claude and Jessie Mae Wadley, his nephew Recardo Greene, two brothers Otis Wadley and Roma Wadley.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: Three daughters Cheryl (Tommy) Daniels, Valarie Wadley, and Allisyn Wadley. One son Keith Wadley of Swainsboro, Georgia, including two grandsons he helped raise, Kentrel Wadley of Swainsboro, Georgia, and Ronyae Sanders of Richmond, Virginia. Six sisters: Claudia Tillman, Mary Lee Wadley, Johnnie Thomas, Mary Esther Wadley all of Swainsboro, Georgia, Ossie Ola Wadley of Augusta, Georgia, and Lowinder (Calvin) Bell of Sardis, Georgia. Two brothers: Jessie Wadley, and Hurlon Wadley of Swainsboro, Georgia. Fourteen Grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, Four sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
