Larry Phillips Obituary

Mr. Larry Phillips, son of the late L.C. Phillips and Annie Ruth Phillips, was born on January 1, 1959, in Emanuel County, Georgia. He was a proud 1977 graduate of Treutlen High School. For the majority of his life, he worked as a dedicated machine operator at Rayonier for over 20 years. He was also a faithful member of Ohoopee Grove Baptist Church for many years. He was famous among family and friends for his incredible cooking skills. He had a way of bringing people together and making them feel at home. He also had a great love for music (loud music).

Despite battling illness, he was a strong and courageous man—a nine-year survivor of esophageal cancer. On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, he peacefully departed this life at Pruitt Health – Bethany in Millen, Georgia, to be with the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Annie Ruth Phillips; his grandparents, Randolph and Estella Phillips; and his sister, Betty Ware.

He leaves behind many loved ones to cherish his memory: his children; Tremayne (Shikita) Phillips of Soperton, GA; Kassidi (Kalup) Phillips-Shivers of Elgin, SC; Sierra Wadley of Atlanta, GA; and Verlon Wadley of Swainsboro, GA.

He was a devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren. The oldest Uvieh Phillips and Uvie’onte Phillips. The Legendary L’s,” representing his name, Larry: London Phillips, La’Lyn Thomas, Logan Phillips, Lenoxx Phillips, L’Oreal Wadley, Lakelyn Shivers, and Lynleigh Shivers. He is also survived by four uncles: Ralph (Doris) Phillips of Stillmore, GA; Wilbert (Delois) Phillips; Cleve (Annie Laura) Phillips; and Meady Phillips—all of Swainsboro, GA. He leaves behind two nephews, Nakia Phillips and Charles Fields Jr., both of Swainsboro, GA, as well as a host of cousins and special friends who will continue to honor and remember him.
