Jerry Phillips Obituary

Jerry Cecil Phillips born on June 8, 1962 to the late Rev. Rufus Phillips and Mary Phillips. He leaves a wife Tennie Phillips of Metter GA; five children, Margo Phillips, Metter GA, Dominique Phillips, Swainsboro GA, Jerri Robertson Davis, Statesboro GA, Fion Robertson, Swainsboro GA, Brianna Phillips, Statesboro GA. He had one brother to precede him in death Gary L Phillips; two sisters, Carolyn L Phillips of Twin City GA, and Tonya Phillips Foreman (Michael) of Portal GA. A devoted friend Jennifer Vinings of Wadley GA. He had nine grandchildren and two nieces and a nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jerry attended Emanuel County Schools where he played football and baseball. He worked in the factory industry for many years. He also began working as an electrician and mechanic.

He was a member of The Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church of Lexsy GA, where he sang in the choir as a child. He loved to walk around the house trying to sing like Paul from the Gospel Keynotes and tell us “Y’all wished you could sing like that”. Operator, calling long distance was a song he lead in what is now known as The J. B.’s Gospel Choir. He no longer sing with the choir, but he still supported them during their anniversaries.

He loved to play sports, but anyone that knew him knows that he also loved to play cards and he always played to win. He was human, he had his flaws, but he also had one of the best hearts in the world. If he could help you, he would. He was a son, brother, and father that loved his family. He will always be remembered by the ones that love him best.
