Farris Hudson, Jr. Obituary

On Easter Sunday, April 21, 1957, God blessed the lives of Farris Madison Hudson, Sr. and Jewel Miller Hudson with the precious gift of their only son, Farris Madison Hudson, Jr.

At an early age, Farris accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Pineola Church of God in Wadley, Georgia, where he served faithfully as a deacon, minister, choir member, and Sunday School Teacher. He later joined House of Prayer Worship Ministries, Inc. in Wadley where he continued to serve in these capacities.

Farris was a 1974 graduate of the former Wadley High School in Wadley. He furthered his education earning an Associate Degree from Emanuel County Junior College (presently East Georgia College). Farris graduated Summa Cum Laude from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia, as a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.

In his spare time, Farris was an avid reader, consuming various genres of books. However, his favorite book was God’s word -- the Holy Bible. He also loved music, playing the saxophone and singing. He was an amateur photographer and videographer, known by those closest to him as “the paparazzi”. In various ways, Farris was an artist. He loved to draw and paint, and his family fondly referred to him as a “topiary artist”, as he could shape unique designs using nothing more than an ordinary pair of hedge shears.

On July 3, 1983, Farris was united in matrimony to Verna Ellen Wesby. Unto this union one son was born.

Farris was preceded in death by his parents, Farris Madison Hudson, Sr. and Jewel Miller Hudson; his brothers-in-law Ricky Wesby and Earl B. Williams, Sr.; and his sister-in-law, Nyeta Faye Wesby Dugan.

His memory will forever live in the hearts of his wife, Verna Wesby Hudson; son, Farris M. Hudson III; sisters, LaZelda H. Williams, Farlyn Hudson, Shawana Lynn Lewis (Donovan, Sr.), and Phrashunda J. Hudson. Brother-in-law; Gary Dugan, mother-in-law; Mary Lewis Wesby, father-in-law ; Willie L. Wesby, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
