Earl Williams, Sr. Obituary

Earl B. Williams, Sr., also known as “Bernard” or “Bern” to his family, was born in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia on September 28, 1959.

Earl was a graduate of Dewitt Clinton High School, Bronx, New York and attended Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York.

He was united in holy matrimony on September 24, 1983 to LaZelda Hudson. Unto this union, a son, Earl Bernard Williams, Jr. was born. Bernard” enjoyed playing basketball, listening to music, watching all types of sports, eating and spending time with his grandson, Karson.

He was a “free spirit” who loved life and loved people. He had an enormous, compassionate heart and found much joy in helping others. It brought him comfort to drive someone to their doctor’s appointments or help someone get to the grocery store when they could not otherwise.

"Bernard” obtained several jobs, but it was not until he became self-employed, washing and detailing vehicles, that he found his niche. This all stemmed from his fascination with cars. He was often teased that he should have been a car salesman. He seemed to know every make, model and color of every automobile ever made.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents Ella Bright (Paul) Johnson, his grandparents, Dorothy Zeigler and John Thomas Williams, Jr. and his uncle, John Thomas Williams III.

His memory will forever live in the hearts of his wife, LaZelda H. Williams, Wadley, Georgia, his son, Earl, Jr. (Karla) Williams, Loganville, Georgia, his parents Calvin (Hattie) Williams, Garden City, Georgia; his sisters, Lynette Johnson (Jimmy) Thaxton, Macon, Georgia, Gala Williams (Barry) Stewart, Lilburn, Georgia and Millie Cooper (Anthony) Murphy, Aurora, Colorado; his brother, Tyrone ( Lorraine) Williams, Pooler, Georgia; grandson, Karson David Williams, Loganville, Georgia; his aunt, Jean (Harry) Lemon, Savannah, Georgia; uncles, Curtis Williams and Robert (Johnnie Mae) Williams, Savannah, Georgia; grandmother, Kathryn Williams, Savannah, Georgia; his father and mother-in-law, Farris and Jewel Hudson, Wadley, Georgia; his brother- in-law and sisters- in-law, Farris, Jr. (Verna) Hudson, Farlyn Hudson, Shawana (Donovan) Lewis, and Phrashunda Hudson,  special friends Thurston and Vera Ramey, Ballston Spa, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Earl is also expected to have a granddaughter in the next few days. She will be named Karter Grace and will be told all the fond memories of her grandfather.
