Mosley's Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. David Stan Brown, Jr., 72, of Swainsboro, GA on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Swainsboro City Cemetery with words of comfort by Rev. Charles Holloway.
Mr. David Stan Brown Jr. better known as “Nan” was born January 29, 1949 in Johnson County to the late David Brown, Sr. and Sarah Washington Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry and Jimmy Lee Brown. He was educated in Swainsboro, GA and was a graduate of Emanuel County Elementary and High School in the class of 1968. Early in life David joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his enlistment in the U.S. Army, David moved to Alexandra, Virginia where he worked at the Headquarters of Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC. David returned to his hometown of Swainsboro, GA and started working at the Georgia Correctional Institution in Reidsville, GA for several years. He also managed RACO Convenient Store and later employed by Sanitary Market Grocery Store. David became ill and lived at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA on the 8 West Wing for several years. His wish was granted to come back and live at home. David was baptized at an early age and became a member of the Lester Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
David enjoyed doing accounting and cooking. He was well known cooking collard greens and grilling those fabulous ribs. He was a people-person and was loved by his family and friends.
Survivors include his sisters: Mary Brown, Marion Brown (Jerry) Williams, Katherine Brown (Charles) Jackson, all of Swainsboro, GA, Glenice Brown (Hosea) Wynn of Savannah, GA, Eleanor W. Taylor of Macon, GA; two adopted sisters; Tammy Johnson of Columbus, GA and Latosha Renee Madison of Vidalia, Ga; One Sister-in-Law, LaKesha W. Brown of Swainsboro, GA; Four Step-Children, Anthony McMiller of Syracuse, NY, Antonnia Tutts of Charleston, SC., Kedra Archie of Atlanta, GA and Darrell Archie of Swainsboro, GA.; one aunt Mrs. Lillian King of Warner Robins, GA; two special ladies he talks on the phone with weekly: Auntie/Cousin Eva Dillard of Jacksonville, FLA and Louise Harper of Baltimore, Maryland and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
