Corey Johnson Obituary

Corey Dwayne Johnson (43) was born on May 5, 1981 in Dublin, Georgia to Gloria Faye Hampton and Wayne Johnson.  Corey was raised in Swainsboro, Georgia by his grandparents Henry and Rosa Hampton, where he was brought up in the church and introduced to Christ at an early age.

After graduating from Swainsboro High School in 1998, Corey enlisted in the United States Military where he served in the US Air Force.  While serving in the US Air Force, Corey met fellow Airman Sebrena Williams and they became married in 2002.  Although their marriage later ended in divorce, they were blessed with two children during their marriage, Destiny and Damien.

\Corey was a thorough and hardworking young man.  Prior to his declining health, Corey’s most recent full-time employment was with NASCAR Daytona Speedway, Daytona, FL where he was employed as Supervisor over Vendor and Custodial Services for several years. Corey was a skilled cook and truly enjoyed cooking; he was also employed in the food industry for a period of time. Additionally, Corey loved children, listening to music, spectator sports, shopping for and wearing fashion clothing, and keeping his family and friends up to date with current events and happenings. Corey was a people person with a huge personality and great sense of humor. He was a positive person who never met a stranger; indeed “to know him was to love him”.

On the afternoon of Saturday, December 14, 2024, in the presence of family and friends, Corey transitioned to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his grandparents James Henry Hampton, Rosa M. Hampton and Sarah Royal Johnson.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by: his mother Gloria Faye Hampton of Swainsboro, GA; his father Wayne Johnson of Swainsboro, GA; his fiancé Lakesha Jones of Palatka, FL; two sons, Damian Leshon Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA and Jamie Allen of Palatka, FL; three daughters, Destiny Rayshawn Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Jakeah Allen of Palatka, FL and Mekenzie Boston of Palm Bay, FL; one brother, Demetrius Lovell Johnson of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Whitney LaFaye Fedderick (Christopher) of Columbus, GA and Dana N.
