Billy Dawson

Reflecting Memories  
Billy Dawson, a free-spirited, easy-going brother, father and antique collector passed away on August 3, 2024, in Swainsboro, GA. He was born on July 16, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joe Willie and Deatrice Dawson. He attended Emanuel County Public Schools. Billy served in the United States Army briefly and was employed by the United States Postal Service, until his health declined. Billy was very dedicated and passionate about his work and ability to connect with a diverse population of people. He undoubtedly left a lasting impact on those that he encountered and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Billy’s dedication to his family and work was matched by his love for collecting antiques, cooking pork skins, making freshly squeezed lemonade, traveling, and venturing the BarnYard “Every” Saturday. 
Billy is preceded in death by the family’s matriarch, grandmother, and mother; Gertrude Varner Dawson, his parents, four brothers; Dewayne Dawson, Phillip Dawson, Danny Brigham, Leroy Jones, and two sisters; Christine Dawson Pitts and Betty Rountree. 
Billy leaves to cherish his loving memories to his partner of 32 years, Ms. Lillie Cuyler of Swainsboro, GA. He also leaves behind his children; Randy Dawson of Dublin, GA, Tiffany Cuyler of Statesboro, GA, and Maceo Cuyler and Robert Cuyler, both of Swainsboro, GA.; his brothers Willie James (Sabrina) Dawson of Wadley, GA and James (Gloria) Dawson of Swainsboro, GA; his sisters Trudie Polen of Augusta, GA, Mary (Jimmy) Archie of Swainsboro, GA, Dianne(Curtis) Willis of Laurens County, GA, Willie Dean Parker and Francis Royal, both of Swainsboro, GA. 
Additionally, Billy leaves behind to cherish his memories are his grandchildren, a loving circle of nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives, and a village of friends.
