Annie Burnette Obituary

June 13, 1932, to the late Jim and Ruth Ellen, (Ellen Chapple Lamb) Wilson, in Toombs County/Lyons, Georgia. Annie lived in Hartford, Connecticut for 50 years, returning to Swainsboro, in 2007. Upon completion of high school at Swainsboro.

Annie “Ruth” Burnette was invited to a private affair, held in her honor between her and the Lord, on January 5, 2024.  She was born on High & Industrial on June 2, 1952, she was employed at Emanuel County Hospital/Emanuel Medical Center in 1952 until relocation to Hartford, Connecticut in 1957.  Ruth was employed by St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center for 36 years.  As a Nursing Assistant and LPN, she was selected in 1993 as Plus Person of the Year by her peers for Excellence of Service.  She retired from St. Francis Hospital on May 1, 1994. 

Ruth was a member of The First Cathedral in Bloomfield, Connecticut.  She served as Vice-President of Pastors Aide, President and Vice-President for Praises of Zion Choir, Secretary & Treasurer of Medical Guild, a member of the Willing Workers, a teacher in School of Evangelism, New Believers/Members Series for youth and children.  After her retirement and upon her return to Swainsboro, she also volunteered her time and services at Emanuel Medical Center as well as the local food pantry in Swainsboro, Georgia.  She loved helping others and sharing her love of the Lord with them.  One of her proudest moments in life was taking a trip to the Holy Land in Jerusalem and getting baptized in the Jordan River.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ruth, and her two beloved sisters, Pauline Hubert and Carnell Lamb.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her nieces Lutricia Parker (Ralph) of Swainsboro, Georgia, Gwendolyn Williams of Summertown, Georgia, and nephew Frederick McClendon (Trumaine) of Atlanta, Georgia;  Her Great-nephews and nieces: Ralph Parker, Jr., Ann Watson (James), Tracey  Williams (Larry), Courtney Williams (Monica), Toney Parker (Brenda), Valencia Williams, and Salena McClendon, her Great-Great nieces and nephews: Shayla Thornton, James Watson, Jr., Marquita Watson, Brandon Williams, Shaila Payton, Raven Williams,  Kaniya Parker, Promise McClendon, Cameron Williams, Jaqavien McClendon,  Princeton Williams, Parker Williams, Karter McClendon, and Jax’ston McClendon, and her Great-Great-Great nieces and nephews:  Jalaya Watson and Jasiah Watson.  She also leaves behind her Godchildren, Victor Simpson of Hartford, Connecticut, Anthony Elkey of Texas, Marcus Blackwell, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, and Nathaniel Davis of Connecticut.  She also held a special place in her heart for Robert and Elaine Yordan and Robert Andrew Yordan, Jr., all of Connecticut. 

As would be her custom, a celebration of her presence to honor her presence and those of us left behind will be at the place she loved, her church, St. Phillips Baptist Church of Swainsboro, GA.
