Annie Mae Armstrong, affectionately known as “Ann,” was born on August 5, 1961, in Macon, Georgia, to the late Jerry and Willie Mae Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Essie Mae Daniels Twyne.
Ann attended public schools and was well known for her vibrant spirit. She excelled in all she did especially in track and field. She received a full scholarship where she competed with the top runners of her time. Ann touched the lives of those around her with her generous spirit. She was employed for many years at Capro Manufacturer then later devoted herself to her church St. Philip Baptist Church.
Ann is survived by her husband Arthur Simmons, Swainsboro Ga, one son Darrell (Lashanda) Ford, Swainsboro Ga, two sisters Geraldine (Tommy) Giles, Sabrina Armstrong (Tony Woods), best friend/sister Valerie Moses, brothers Jerry (Linda) Armstrong Jr, Soperton GA, Jerry (Susan) Armstrong Milledgeville Ga, one granddaughter Yomenica Ford, great granddaughter Ke’yonni Kelsey Augusta Ga and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews.
Ann will be remembered for her generous spirit, unwavering faith, serving many roles in her church, and the joy she brought to those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all her family, friends, and loved ones.
