Marvin Worthen Obituary

Mr. Marvin Worthen entered into eternal peace on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Marvin was born on January 22, 1955, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to the late Mr. Jim and Mrs. Laura Worthen. Marvin was married to the late Mrs. Viola Marie (Wise) Worthen.

Mr. Worthen attended school in the Emanuel County school system. He worked at Canady Supply Company, Wrightsville Lumber Company, and El Roy Turpentine Steel until he retired. He loved to plant flowers and vegetables. He always enjoyed working in his garden. He definitely had a green thumb. He was a devoted member and deacon at St. Philip Missionary Baptist Church in Swainsboro, Georgia.

Mr. Marvin Worthen was preceded in death by: 11 siblings, Albert Worthen, Jimmy Worthen, Troy Worthen, William Worthen, Leroy Worthen, George Worthen, Tommy Worthen, Terry Worthen, Helen “Toby” Bell, Ella Worthen, and Alma “Dolly” Parker; one son, Maurice Clark; and one grandson, Goug Clark.

He leaves to cherish his many loving memories: five daughters, Carnesia (James) Mack and Lillian (Ronald) Wilkerson, both of Statesboro, Georgia, Tarinesia Rivers, Roberta (Michael) Murphy, and Christie Clark, all of Swainsboro, Georgia; three brothers, Danny (Debo) Worthen, Dennis Mason, and Jimmy Seabourough, all of Swainsboro, Georgia; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
